I wake up in my hotel room at 11:58. My checkout time is noon. Still pretty drunk, I quickly grab all my things, shove them in my backpack and run downstairs to check out. I think I checkout about 6 minutes late, but the hotel doesn't give me a hard time.
On the subway, I check my WeChat and see that I now have 98 yuan. Not only did I buy everyone a round at the second bar, but it seems I paid for James and Katie's drinks and Stone Brewery as well. I'm terrified I won't have enough money to get home.
When I get to the train station, I ask for one ticket to Nanjing. They say it's 144 RMB. I ask if there is anything cheaper, say that I'm willing to take a standing room option, but they say no. I hand them my phone and pray. Somehow, it works. They hand me a train ticket and I get on the train.
I slept the entire 3 hour train ride, only waking up at each stop to check and see if it's my station before falling back asleep.
Back in Nanjing, I check my phone. I was so drunk/hungover, I don't really know how this happened, but somehow I still had 48 RMB. I don't know if I added more money from my bank account or if WeChat did that automatically somehow. I think I must have done it myself and forgot. I really don't know. But I still have 48 RMB to last me a week, and a subway card so I can get home, which is a hell of a lot better than getting stuck in Shanghai. I don't really know what I will eat until my next paycheck though. All I have in the apartment is rice and pears.
When I get home, I remember my stove is still broken so I pull out the electric stove Josie gave me. Turns out that the electric stove is broken too. Josie gave me a ton of broken crap.
I eat two pears and lie on my bed watching TV until I fall asleep, hoping my dreams can stave off my hunger.
I took no pictures this day, so once again, here is a photo of my insane blackout curtain with tape/Chinese curtain combo so you can remember what the room I'm sleeping in looks like.
